ANNABEL GUAITA

Born in Bergen in 1971. Studied with Einar Røttingen at the Grieg Acade

my and later with Albert Attenelle and Jordi Mora at L’Escola de Musica de Barcelona. While working with the latter she aquired in-depth knowledge of musical phenomenology, and for many years she studied this approach to music as systematized by conductor Sergiú Celibidache.

In recent years she has chosen to specialise in the music of the 20^th century, while collaborating with a number of important Norwegian musicians and contemporary composers, including Ketil Hvoslef, Knut Vaage, Arvid Gangsø, Morten Gaathaug, and Ricardo Odriozola. She has performed much of the piano and chamber music of American composer George Crumb, with whom she had a close collaboration during the 1990s. Moreover, she has performed in many different concert series and at festivals such as the Valen Festival, Autunnale, Borealis, Avgarde, Troldhaugen, and in concerts arranged by the Bergen Chamber Music Society. She has also given concerts in the U.S.A., Argentina, and Finland.

From 2008-2011 she was the recipient of a scholarship awarded by the Norwegian Artistic Research Fellowship Programme, http://kunststipendiat.no. In her project, The Atonal Piano, she explored questions related to the performance of the piano music of Valen, Schoenberg, Webern, and Berg.

She has contributed to a number of recordings, including her solo cd L´Altra Beltà (Lawo Classics, 2011) Non-Solid Objects (Albedo, 1997), Edvard Hagerup Bull (Simax, 2001), and Combo Tango (Acoustic Records, 2001)

Født i Bergen i 1971. Studerte i sin hjemby med Einar Røttingen ved Griegakademiet og senere med Albert Attenelle og J ordi Mora ved L´Escola de Música de Barcelona. Hos sistnevnte tilegnet hun seg kunnskap om musikalsk fenomenologi, og gjennom mange år studerte hun denne tilnærmingen til musikk, slik den ble praktisk tilrettelagt for utøvere av dirigenten Sergiu Celibidache. Hun har i den senere tid valgt en spesialisering innen det 20. århundres musikk og gjennom dette samarbeidet med en rekke sentrale norske musikere og samtidskompo nister som f.eks. Ketil Hvoslef, Knut Vaage, Arvid Gangsø, Morten Gaathaug og spanjolen Ricardo Odriozola.

På nittitallet hadde hun et nært samarbeid med den amerikanske komponisten George Crumb, og hun har fremført store deler av klaver- og kammermusikken hans. I tillegg til dette har hun spilt i ulike konsertserier og på festivaler som Valenfestivalen, Autunnale, Borealis, Avgarde, Troldhaugen og Kammermusikkforeningen i Bergen, og hun har konsertert blant annet i USA, Argentina og Finland.

Fra 2008 til 2011 var hun stipendiat i det nasjonale Stipendiatprogrammet for kunstnerisk utviklingsarbeid (http://kunststipendiat.no/) med prosjektet Det Atonale Klaver, der hun arbeidet med fremføringsspørsmål knyttet til klavermusikken til Valen, Schönberg, Webern og Berg.
